Favorite Birds – Round Two

Round One is over. Some choices were really tough, and some were pretty easy. Division Three had the closest votes, while Division Four consisted of all very clear winners.

  • American Wigeon beat Northern Pintail by 1 vote
  • Hooded Merganser beat Common Merganser by 1 vote
  • American White Pelican beat Brown Pelican by 1 vote
  • Downy Woodpecker beat Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker by 1 vote
  • Common Raven beat American Crow by 1 vote
  • American Robin beat Blue Jay by 2 votes
  • Black-Capped Chickadee beat Tufted Titmouse by 2 votes
  • Carolina Wren beat Cactus Wren by 2 votes
  • Yellow-Throated Vireo beat Blue-Headed Vireo by 2 votes
  • Song Sparrow beat House Sparrow by 5 votes
  • Indigo Bunting beat Bluebird by 6 votes

The biggest landslides of popularity were:

  • American Goldfinch over Pine Siskin – 95% to 5%
  • Northern Cardinal over Common Redpoll – 95% to 5%
  • Mallard over American Black Duck – 92% to 8%
  • Sandhill Crane over American Bittern – 92% to 8%
  • Wood Duck over Ruddy Duck – 91% to 9%
