Round One was mostly blowouts, as familiar and common fruits were matched up with rare or foreign fruits. At least for sheltered people in North America. There were a few close races though:
- Cantaloupe beat Honeydew by ONE vote!
- Papaya beat Guava by three votes
- Fig beat Starfruit by eight votes
- Kiwi beat Nectarine by eight votes
- Blood Orange beat Grapefruit by ten votes
