Favorite Queen Songs – Round One

Today we begin voting on our favorite songs by the band Queen!

One of Queen’s biggest trademarks is their tight vocal harmony. Their most well-known songs had many layers recorded by the three vocalists, creating a very distinctive sound. And they had 53 “Top 40” singles, six of which went to Number 1. If you want to learn more about how they recorded their vocals, here’s a great article: https://www.mothermercury.be/en/queens-vocal-harmony-the-key-to-their-sound/

I found seven different lists of the “best” or “most popular” songs by Queen and I averaged them in Excel to create a master ranked list. Then I seeded the brackets from that list, with the top four in the four divisions’ #1 slots, the next four in the #2 slots, etc. This should parallel how the March Madness brackets seed teams based on their likelihood of winning, which should keep the most popular songs from getting matched up with each other too early.

We’re voting on the songs, not the videos, but I’ve included links to YouTube videos (mostly from the official Queen channel) so you can hear each of the songs to help you vote.

Vote now in Round One! The deadline is Tuesday evening, October 26.
