Even as somebody who is as far away from a “film buff” as anybody can ever reallu be, …
from what I have heard, … nothing can outdo the Shining.
However, also from random things of what I have heard, … Kubrick went too wild with his direction there [documentaries and specials about The Shining and horror movies give brutal descriptions of how Kubrick mistreated his stars, especially Shelly Duvall, simply to drive her crazy and put her in the right mindset.] [Would the movie have been as effective without the extremes that Kubrick reached in his personality / actions / treatment / etc,? Don’t know ‘cuz I haven’t seen the movie. Looks like too much for me, tbh.]
